Every Day. Find a Way!

In the early 1930s The Upper Room was "prayed into existence" by a prayer group that met regularly at Travis Park Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas. Today, nearly 3 million Christians find time to use The Upper Room daily. Its meditations, written by ordinary people who encounter God, help others find hope, peace, comfort, inspiration, and strength ... every day.

This year, Upper Room Ministries is challenging every congregation, including yours, to encourage all its members to read and pray. Current research shows that effective congregations are those who focus on discipleship by helping more and more people walk in the way that leads to life in Jesus Christ. This only happens when Christians take time to read the Bible, pray, and reflect ... every day.

The Upper Room makes it easy to follow the daily rhythm of a healthy devotional life. Plus, the new discussion guide, included inside, makes it perfect for small group study too. Let The Upper Room help breathe new life and depth into the soul of your congregation. It is infectious. One person, one small group, one congregation who will pray and listen to God every day can provide a transforming spirit within their community of even the world ... just like a women's prayer group did seventy years ago.

A Challenge for Churches:

Join us in celebrating our 70th anniversary in ministry and prayer. Ask your congregation to participate in the "Every Day. Find a Way!" challenge. Choose one or more ways to get started today.

  1. Provide copies of The Upper Room for every household in your congregation and encourage members to use them. The Upper Room continues to be the best value in the church. For a little more than a penny a day, every family can be spiritually nurtured.
  2. Watch our Free Tools page for ideas about how to use The Upper Room in your church. Watch the tools page for posters, bulletin inserts, and other tools to help enliven the spiritual life of your congregation.
  3. Tell us how your congregation is taking the challenge and using The Upper Room for faith formation and outreach. Send your ideas and stories to 70thIdeas@bbs.upperroom.org.
