POEM OF THE WEEK

A Matter of Trust

Nothing is going right.
My plans and dreams
     have been smashed.
My hardest, best efforts
     do not seem to be enough.
I am crushed under the burden
     of failure and loss.
Why is this happening to me?

Help me pick up the pieces, Lord.
Mend my broken spirit.
Pour upon my life your boundless love.
Lift me up by your infinite grace
so that I will survive.
Fill me with your strength,
your peace, your hope.
Grant me courage to go on.

Only you know the reasons why.
Only you have the answers, Lord.
In your great wisdom,
unwavering faithfulness,
and divine purpose,
restore and guide me.
Let me trust you completely,
for you are with me.
Let me hold on to my faith
that you will fulfill
some higher purpose
that, for now, I cannot see.
