From the International Director
Greg Engroff

Greetings from Middle Tennessee,

There have been a lot of things going on in the world of Emmaus and Chrysalis and I wanted to let you know the details. Check both websites to learn everything new that is going on in Emmaus and Chrysalis. They are under the heading, “From the International Director” and some of them pertain to Emmaus, some pertain to Chrysalis and some pertain to both Emmaus and Chrysalis.
  • Recently, several Emmaus communities volunteered to be part of a Book Table test. The Upper Room is providing 30 books, a poster, a brochure and an order for to these communities to use after the Grow Through Study talk. After the Walks, each community will report as to how it worked and what improvements can be made. Once all the comments are returned and all the bugs are worked out, we will be offering this service to any Emmaus community that wants to participate. We will then be developing this program for our Chrysalis communities. The initial book shipments have been sent out to the participating communities for the fall Walks.
  • The Nebraska Emmaus Community will be celebrating their 25th anniversary party on Saturday, September 20, 2008 in Cozad, Nebraska. For more details, go to www.nebraskawalktoemmaus.org Congratulations!
  • A new Emmaus community is about to be born in Northern Virginia – the NOVA Emmaus community is planning their first Walks in the Spring of 2009. This group is taking a leap of faith in that they are a group that is committed to the Upper Room Emmaus model even though almost all of them have never experienced it! They are asking for prayers, servanthood support or financial support from their brothers and sisters in the Emmaus movement. If you are interested in learning more, call Kathy Barton at 703-403-5870 or contact them at ld.novaemmaus@gmail.com for ways that you may help. Their website is www.novaemmaus.org
  • We are still hoping to have the new Purple Worship Booklets available by the end of the year. We are also making changes to the Blue Chrysalis Worship Booklets too. Our goal is to make the Holy Communion for both booklets contain the same service liturgy and to bring the Emmaus booklet up-to-date. It has remained almost completely the same since 1981. We will keep you informed as to the progress of these Worship Booklets and let you know when they are ready for ordering.
