Insiders/Outsiders offers you a different perspective for viewing evangelism: the insider/outsider lens. In the early church the good news appealed to the outsiders and the marginalized in such a way that hope, relief, and support within the context of community transformed individual lives. The outsiders included women, Samaritans, Gentiles, tax collectors, sinners (those who broke the commands of the Torah), the diseased, and others. The early Methodist Church in America has a rich history of growth because of its appeal to the outsider—women, blacks (both slave and free), the poor, and the marginalized.
