Neshama: soul
Origin: Hebrew noun
The ancient Hebrew scriptures flow with psalms where the soul cries out to the Lord in praise and suffering. Today, people of God still cry out from the depths of their souls in song and spoken word, connecting us to one another and to the psalmists of long ago.
The original songs featured on this CD by young people in The United Methodist Church come from different regions. The artists live different lifestyles and speak different languages. The diverse musical styles — from pop to African folk — on Neshama unites us with song and praise like the ancient scriptures, celebrating how God is moving in the souls of young people today.
A vision of Young People's Ministries — a ministry of the GBOD — Neshama is the first compilation of United Methodist Young People. A portion of all proceeds from Neshama will benefit HIV/AIDS ministry initiatives of Young People's Ministries.
