What is a PDF download?

PDF is an acronym for "Portable Document Format." Developed by Adobe Systems to view and save formatted documents, PDF files download to any computer and open from the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can read the document on your computer, print it to read offline or download it to a PDA. Our PDFs are for your use only and should not be reproduced without permission from The Upper Room — unless otherwise stated on the copyright page.

How do I buy a PDF download?

Purchase a PDF download the same way you buy a book in our online store. Once you purchase it, however, you download it from your eLibrary on our website; you will not receive a product in the mail. PDF downloads are sold only as downloads via the online store; phone orders aren't accepted. Downloads are non-returnable and non-refundable.

How do I download a PDF?

  1. Be sure you've downloaded and installed the latest version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader. A link to this free software is in your eLibrary. If necessary, adjust your browser settings to allow pop-up windows from our site (www.upperroom.org).
  2. Your email order confirmation contains a link to your eLibrary within the My Account area, where all purchased downloads are stored. After logging in, click on the PDF title to begin the download.
  3. A pop-up window appears asking you to agree with the copyright statement. Click "Agree" (or in some cases, "Download"). What happens next depends on your computer's settings. A "Save" window may appear, allowing you to select a specific hard drive location to which the file will be saved. Or the PDF may automatically open from your browser or open directly from the Adobe Reader.

PROBLEMS?

Below are some commonly asked questions specific to PDF downloads. We cannot answer technical questions about your computer settings or Adobe and other software used to format electronic/digital products. Please refer these types of questions to the application developer or computer manufacturer. Application information is included in the product's description in our online store.

"I can't find the PDF": First, make sure you downloaded the file from your eLibrary. If you've already done that and still can't find the PDF, click here for more help, or copy and paste this address (http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/325875.html) in your browser's address/location bar. Most PDFs will open directly from the Adobe Reader once the download finishes. Some computers automatically save downloads to your hard drive. Open your Finder (Mac) or Start Menu (PC) to search your computer's hard drive for the folder where downloads are stored. (Search by the PDF's title.) Consult your browser's Help menu for help changing this default location to a more easily found folder.

"After I clicked the PDF download link, a blank window appeared": This may indicate the PDF file opened within your browser rather than from the Adobe Reader. It's possible the file opened in a different tab or window. Minimize your open windows, one at a time, to see if the file is behind another.

"I can't print the PDF": Click here for more help, or copy and paste this address (http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/150d6.htm) in your browser's address/location bar.

"I keep getting 'Timeout/User Session has expired' errors." Errors like this occur when you're downloading a PDF from a networked computer behind a proxy server or firewall. Please ask your IT department for help, or download the file from your non-networked home computer.

AOL Users: Do not attempt to download the PDF from within the AOL browser. There are known conflicts between nested browsers and Adobe. Download PDFs from Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox, Safari or Opera.
