Fourth Sunday in Lent
Sunday’s Reflection
SPEAKING TRUTH TO POWER is never out of order. When the one speaking this truth does so from a position of social powerlessness all the power rests with the truth.

Ability to speak truth in all situations is a learned behaviour and a blessing. Gives peace of mind and empowers you to stand up for the right.
It is the spirit of God in you and the personal relationship you have with Him that enables you be fearless to speak the truth, even when you are in a position of social powerlessness. Speaking truth is essential for a life of inner peace.
I have seen truth empower Mahathma Gandhi that not only he, but the whole nation of India was empowered to gain freedom from those who had the economic and social power. Truth prevails for good.
Most revolutions have empowered—-American Revolution, Civil Rights, South Africa, etc. persons with no power ( money, political, social) said “enough” because it was simply wrong and time for a real change.
Speaking truth will not always in comfortable situation, especially in a country where “right” can be “wrong” and “wrong can be “right”. It needs courage to say it, even in the smallest situation of your home, office or in bigger situations where people tends to take for granted what the public say, or try to avoid conflict. God is truth and if we want to follow Christ’s steps in life, Eph 4:15 says: “Instead, by speaking the truth in love, we will grow up completely into the one who is the head, that is, into Christ,..”
Amen!
Peter
then “we have to tell the truth plainly, but in love!”
I hear Jesus say, ‘I am the truth.’
So when I think of truth empowering someone, I think of new converts I have known who are given the power to stand firm against loving and loved family and friends who do not understand the changes in their lives. I think of those who find the power to withstand various ‘ besetting sins’ and their attractions. I think of those who find the power to go on living everyday in the love of their Lord, in the face of all sorts of difficulties. I think of those who write comments here, who live in that truth every day.
‘There is power in the name of Jesus !!’
