Living in Terms of Abundance

Thursday’s Reflection

LIVING IN TERMS OF ABUNDANCE is the result of perceiving our connectedness to God, loved ones, and the wider community, regardless of inner or outer conditions of poverty or wealth. Faith awakens us to a deeper reality of God’s lively and energetic presence in our lives through relationships that sustain and empower us. Faith in God as our loving companion enables us to risk giving to others generously, knowing that God will always supply our deepest needs. God’s wellspring of insight and energy constantly replenishes our lives, especially when we awaken to the abundance that is our birthright [as children of God].

This Week …

Special Need:
This Week: Pray for peacemakers everywhere. Add your prayer to the Prayer Wall.
Tips for Your Spirit:
Praying with Eyes Open. Many of us were taught to close our eyes when we pray. Praying with icons is an ancient prayer practice that involves keeping our eyes wide open, taking into our heart what the image visually communicates. Try praying with icons.

To me, “living in abundance” means recognizing the abundance that I have in Christ – and how He asks me to share that with others…abundance of love, mercy, grace – not necessarily material things. However, in showing the above characteristics first, then an outpouring of some material/monetary possessions may follow for those in need. It is first and foremost responding in love, because of the abundance of His love.

Living in abundance means to me trusting in the abundance of God’s possesssions which is everything, His care and love for me and realising that He is present with me even when life’s dark clouds surround me. This enables me to share with others, whatever good God trusts me with. I know that God in His mysterious ways is going to meet all my needs with love from His abundance.

I’ve been on mission trips to very poor countries and it is so moving to see those that have so little material wealth and are so happy. Children and adults with no shoes, living in filth and little hope of change but still praising God. It reminds me of what living in abundance really means.

Roberta, I don’t get to this site every day because for now I only have access to the internet from my computer at work. So I’ve just learned of the death of your husband. I’m so sorry, Roberta. You are in my thoughts, my prayers, and my heart. May the strength, peace and, yes, even the joy of God’s holy love sustain you in every moment.

And Jill. It’s good to see you back. You are such a regular here that I was beginning to get concerned because of your absence. I remembered from some of your earlier posts that you had recently faced some challenges, but I guess I forgot that you had mentioned something about visiting a good friend. From your post a couple of days ago, it sounds like your visit was just what the Doctor ordered. Anyway, it’s good to have you back.

living in terms of abundance just really living without fear of running out of this or that complete and total confidence that God is your source and if he wills it it is done no need to worry making our request confident that he hears it and because of that strong bond between creator and creation I can risk loving you because it is God who substains me
