As you concluded your Emmaus® Weekend, you were introduced to the concept of
the Fourth Day -- a symbol of the days of Christian pilgrimage that follow the
three-day Emmaus experience. Your Walk to Emmaus was a unique opportunity to
reflect on your faith journey and make a deeper commitment to Christ.
Now in the living of the Fourth Days, you are encouraged to continue to grow
in your relationship with Christ and live as a faithful disciple in all of life.
An important and necessary foundation for faithful Christian living is a vital
connection to the Christian community for support, guidance, and challenge.
Certainly this is most available through your local church community, your
reunion group, and the Emmaus community gatherings. Yet another way to be
connected to the support of the Christian community is through the writings of
our brothers and sisters in Christ.
The Upper Room® is committed to providing the most creative and helpful
resources which will support persons in their faith walk. Therefore the
following annotated reading list has been developed for persons who have made
the Emmaus Walk. We hope that you will find spiritual guidance and nurture in
these resources and that they will help you as you live the Fourth Days of
Christian discipleship.
