What's The Upper Room — E-mail Edition?

You're always in a rush, carrying too much stuff. You try to pare down all the daily carry-ons, but your arms, shoulders and hands are still loaded.

To create an oasis in your hectic day at the office or on the road, you throw in your pocket-sized copy of The Upper Room daily devotional guide. Even as small as the magazine is, it's sometimes just another thing at the bottom of your bag.

Luckily, the short but meaningful inspiration you need for a daily timeout/spiritual refill can arrive in your e-mail inbox every day. It'll be waiting for you when you boot up, log on, and plug in! Take time out of your busy day, wherever you are, to be refreshed by each day's devotion — as featured on The Upper Room's website and in the magazine. The free e-mail version includes the complete scripture text and meditation for the day.

NOTE: Both the e-mail and website editions only allow access to the current and past devotionals. You still need the regular print magazine edition, the large print magazine edition, or the Spanish magazine edition for times when you're offline and to access the special magazine features for deeper reflection (i.e. small-group and seasonal study guides).

Please support this inspirational wired ministry by subscribing to the magazine versions today!

Do you offer gift subscriptions?

We don't have gift subscriptions because the E-mail Devotional is free. Instead, you may invite a friend to subscribe to the E-mail Devotional or order for your friend a gift subscription to the regular print magazine edition, the large print magazine edition, or the Spanish magazine edition.

To invite a friend to subscribe to the E-mail Devotional, forward them a copy of the devotional. Or go to the E-mail Devotional Subscription webpage and look for the link in the right column that says "E-mail this page to a friend."

Please invite friends to subscribe! On the other hand, we ask that you do not subscribe others to the E-mail Devotional. As much as you love the E-mail Devotional, your friend may not love it quite so much. :-)

My e-mail address has changed. What do I do?

If your e-mail address changes, click on the "Update Profile" link provided at the bottom of each day's email.

What about the copyright notice at the bottom of the devotional? Does it mean I can't share a meaningful meditation with someone else?

Feel free to occasionally share the devotional with a friend or a loved one. This would be considered fair use. If you find that you forward the devotional to the same person nearly every day, that wouldn't be considered fair use. Why not invite that person to subscribe? Go to the E-mail Devotional Subscription page and look for the link in the right column to "E-mail this page to a friend."

The links in my e-mail don't work. What should I do?

Some e-mail programs do not turn URLs (website addresses, i.e. begins with www) into live links or "hotspots." Sometimes the URL is so long that it breaks into two lines, so it doesn't work when you click it. In either case, try copying and pasting the whole URL into your browser. Be sure to piece both lines together, if part of it wrapped to a second line. Once the whole URL is pasted in the browser address field, you should be able to hit "Enter" or "Return" to access the page.
