July 2005 Report Addendum

Anathoth is the headquarters of Africa Upper Room Ministries. On five acres of land near Johannesburg, South Africa, it takes its name from the Jeremiah passage in which land at Anathoth is purchased as a sign of hope for the future. Anathoth is, for Upper Room Ministries, a sign of hope for the future of Africa. This newsletter from staff-person Roland Rink brings news from this important ministry.

OBITUARY -- Johannes Mpingi (7/6/1958 - 7/30/2005)

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with a sense of deep sadness that I write to inform you of the sudden passing of our colleague, Johannes Mpingi, on Saturday evening, July 30, 2005.

We ask your prayers for Johannes' family as they begin to come to terms with their loss.

A memorial service will be held at Anathoth, at a date still to be decided, to honour the life of Johannes.

O Light that followest all my way,
I yield my flickering torch to thee;
my heart restores its borrowed ray,
that in thy sunshine's blaze its day
may brighter, fairer be.

O Joy that seekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
and feel the promise is not vain,
that morn shall tearless be.
