Write Your Own Haiku
by Jacqueline Horsfall
Sometimes the beauty of our
world makes us want to sing out loud. For centuries, poets have turned
words into joyful celebrations of our environment.
Haiku is a form of Japanese
poetry about the beauty of nature's seasons. Here's a sample:
A cool fall evening,
pumpkins in the farmer's field --
a full moon rising.
The first line has five syllables,
the second has seven syllables, and the third has five.
Try writing your own Haiku about
nature or something of God's creation. E-mail
it to Pockets, and it might appear on the Pockets web site!
