About Weavings

What Is Weavings?

Weavings journal is a quarterly publication that promotes a pattern of faithful living marked by prayer, community, and engagement. Such living, to which laity and clergy alike are called, embraces all those expressions of discipline and discipleship that mark the Christian's response to God's work of weaving together the torn fabric of life.

Weavings provides a space where questions posed by contemporary life and the spiritual resources of the Christian heritage can encounter and illuminate one another. The journal strives to create a forum in which contributors and readers can converse on important matters of common concern. Organized by themes, each issue presents a broad range of materials.

Who Are We?

Pamela C. Hawkins returned to Weavings in September 2007 to serve as managing editor. This is her "second time around," having been associate editor from 2001-2004. Although she is an itinerating United Methodist elder, she has whispered a vow of stability in hope to stay put for awhile in this ministry of the heart.

Nelson Kane has been art director on all the issues of Weavings. He lives and works in the Philadelphia area and once was a jazz musician in New York City.

John S. Mogabgab is the founding editor of Weavings. John is an Episcopal layperson with degrees in theology from Union Theological Seminary (New York) and Yale University. For five years (1975-1980) John served as Henri Nouwen's teaching, research, and editorial assistant at Yale Divinity School. When not at his desk, John enjoys hiking, canoeing, and wading rivers with fly rod in hand.
