October in the The Upper Room Chapel

October 3, 2019 by Beth A. Richardson

TO LIVE BY God's call means making ourselves available to the power of the Spirit within us. When we become available to the Spirit, our personal stories become part of God's great story of redeeming love, despite our weaknesses. —Kara Lassen Oliver

UNBIDDEN AND BEYOND human control, the Spirit of God moves through history, giving visions to the prophets of old, drawing attention to injustice, and warning believers to return to the covenant with God. We cannot predict the coming of the Spirit or its mode or method of arrival. But we can learn to pay attention, to seek and listen for the gentle whisper or booming voice of the Holy Spirit’s presence.
