Not against people The struggle is not against other humans but against unseen spiritual powers of evil in heavenly places (Ephesians 6 12). Spiritual enemies The enemies are identified as "principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness," and "spiritual forces of evil". Spiritual weapons The weapons used are not carnal (physical) but "mighty through God" for pulling down strongholds and arguments (2 Corinthians 10 4). How to fight Put on the armor of God Ephesians 6 10-18 outlines the "full armor of God," which includes the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit (the Word of God). Pray Prayer is a weapon that allows believers to tap into God's power and fight against darkness (2 Corinthians 10 4). Submit and resist James 4 7 states, "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you". Use scripture The Word of God is a powerful offensive weapon. Jesus, for example, used the phrase "It is written" to resist temptation (Matthew 4 1-11). Be watchful Believers are told to be "alert and of sober mind" because the enemy "prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour" (1 Peter 5 8). Think on what is true Philippians 4 8-9 advises focusing the mind on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy. The source of power God's power The Bible emphasizes that believers must be strong "in the Lord and in his mighty power" (Ephesians 6 10). Authority over the enemy Believers have been given authority over the enemy's power (Luke 10 19). Victory is God's Success in spiritual warfare ultimately relies on God's power, protection, and strategy.
