Hi Bonnie, I too had a family member who had something horrible happen to them and they acted this way. I say the best thing wasn't to force them to speak but by softly letting them know the door is always open for them when they are ready and or wanted to sit and talk about it to elevate the weight on their chest. In the meantime keep it all in prayer and let them know they are incredibly loved. I also sometimes had to figure other ways of not putting too much emphasis on the Lord or God when speaking to them if they're not religious or spiritual. Everything through prayer will get better. One thing that helped my person was by letting them hear me pray for them in another room one night. This morning, we pray for your Daughter Alexandra to find peace through God and life, Lord we pray that Alexandra quickly finds ways to love her life deeply and wash away the ideas that's lead her to harming herself Lord. Alexandra as someone who use to have suicidal thoughts, let me speak to you directly and tell you it's the devil's way of tricking us. Majority of negative thoughts aren't our own. We are the watchers of our thoughts, but WE are not our thoughts. Sometimes and many times negative thoughts are like clouds passing by. I pray you find new life and things you genuinely excite you to give you something to truly connect with and find joy in life. For me when things get cloudy or rough patches - I find fishing and hiking restorive and it allows me to reconnect with energy that makes it hard for the devil to find its way into my thoughts. Lord, bless Alexandra at PICU at Saint Claires in Boston, and show her how valuable she is to you, her family and ultimately herself. Open her mind and heart to the incredible person she is and how no one can take that from her. In Jesus name we pray Amen.
