Encouraging Word # 310
“I will be filled with joy because of You. I will sing praises to Your name, O Most High.”
Psalm 9:2
Dear Friends,
Have you ever been challenged by what you read in the Bible? I have. During my devotional time, I came across a verse that personally challenged me in Psalm 9:2
“I will be filled with joy because of You. I will sing praises to Your name, O Most High.” (NLT)
This was a challenge to me because most people today are not filled with joy. The difficulties, trials and burdens of living tend to take joy away from us, not give it. Another version says “I will be glad and rejoice in You” (NIV).
Notice that David (who wrote this), was not glad because things were going well for him. He was joyful and glad because of someone God.
There are many reasons in life and in this world to not be “glad.” Yet God is telling us that the supernatural life in Christ is one that has joy and gladness in it.
He wants you and me to be glad for who He is and for all His promises to us. This joy comes from the inside not from everything going great on the outside. It is based on an unwavering relationship with a God who loves us and is greater than our changing circumstances.
Would you like to have joy in your life right now despite the condition of the world? You can by simply telling God that you rejoice in Him alone!
Here’s for a week growing closer to Him!</p>
