Good Friday Prayer

What is so good about all this?
How long will I have to suffer in this way?
I have been arrested by my compulsions,
bound by my disease to please.

I have grown weary under the weight of a life out of balance.
I’m exhausted from the unhealthy suppression of my emotions.
I have not cared for myself.
I have acted out of fear and been found faithless.
I have allowed shame to cause me to deny the only truth
that allowed the light to shine.

I have said yes too many times and it has imploded on me.
How was Christ able to stand? And without sin, being human.
Gracious God, I need your divine touch.
Help me to stand under the weight of this all. I can’t save myself.

Pour out for me as you did for Christ,
power to love in the midst of them fighting over my stuff.
Pour out for me as you did for Christ,
power to love as they walk away.
Pour out for me as you did for Christ, power to love as I stand.
