Ever-present God, thank you for your gift of standing-with-us. In happiness, in grief, in loving, or in pain, you are our constant companion. You are with us. We are not alone. Amen.
God is with me wherever I am.
I turned the corner in a narrow lane in Italy and found this tribute to faith. In Italy, there were signs of faith at every turn. But I only have to open my eyes to see God's presence wherever I am.

I guess this particular listing comes with the warning, "Shameless self-promotion follows here." Child of the Light was my first Advent book for Upper Room Books. In this book, I focus on the music of Advent and Christmas. Each week of Advent takes its inspiration from a different Advent hymn. Daily meditations are written about the themes from that week's hymn. Once Christmas Day is reached, there's a hymn or carol, along with a meditation, for each day. The title of the book comes from the hymn "I Want to Walk as a Child of the Light" by Kathleen Thomerson. It's one of my favorites.
Seeing young people, both men and women, participate in and write their testimonies at The Upper Room daily devotional writers’ workshop in Yangon, 2019, has been a highlight for me. The event and testimonies led to the publication of the first Lenten devotional in the Myanmar language. I truly believe that through The Upper Room ministry, the Lord will continue to equip people in Myanmar to grow and to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
