Malaria Awareness Day

April 25, 2009

Every year, more than a million children die from malaria. Ninety percent of deaths caused by malaria occur in Africa. Malaria infects nearly 500 million people each year. Children who survive often experience health complications.

Malaria is a preventable disease. By answering Jesus' call to "minister to the least of these who are members of our family," we can beat this disease and save future generations. So give a child the opportunity to be healthy. Pray. Communicate the need. Buy a bed net. And save a life.

PRAY

  • Join churches around the world in prayer for the children of Africa, for those suffering with malaria, and for global health.
  • Organize a 24-hour prayer chain in your church or faith community.

SHARE

On April 25, skip a meal and donate $10 to:

  • Nothing but Nets -- $10 to buy, distribute and educate ... so little to save a life.
  • Prayers for Encouragement: Hope for Persons Living with HIV and AIDS, Malaria, Tuberculosis, and Other Serious Diseases -- $10 will underwrite the printing and distribution of 20 booklets. (Or purchase some booklets to distribute in your area.)
