Special Report: Zanele's Gifts Anathoth is the headquarters of Africa Upper Room Ministries. On five acres of land near Johannesburg, South Africa, it takes its name from the Jeremiah passage in which land at Anathoth is purchased as a sign of hope for the future. Anathoth is, for Upper Room Ministries, a sign of hope for the future of Africa. Many of you who are regular readers of "Anathoth News" might remember Zanele, the little girl with HIV who lives at Anathoth, Africa Upper Room Ministry's property in South Africa. (We first learned of her in the July 2005 newsletter.) Zanele started school this year, but is currently in hospital in Soweto. (Update: Zanele was released from hospital the week of March 5 and is recuperating at home.) Your prayers are appreciated. One of the gifts to all of us from Zanele is a movie which was produced by a talented South African filmmaker, Kyle Lauf. This short film, "The Little Girl Whose Name Is Enough" is now posted on the video website, YouTube. You can view it by clicking here. Zanele has inspired us to so many things, not the least of which is the publication of the booklet, Prayers for Encouragement: Hope for Persons Living with HIV and AIDS, Malaria, Tuberculosis, and Other Serious Diseases. This booklet was published early this year and is already being distributed in Africa and the United States.
Through Zanele, many of us have glimpsed the important work we face in following Jesus -- ministering to "the least of these." Please join with us in prayers for Zanele and her family, and for all those who are suffering with HIV and AIDS.
