One Day at a Time

April 17, 2020 by Peter Veugelaers (Wellington, New Zealand)

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

— Romans 8:28 (NIV)

Covid-19. That dreaded virus. We’re thinking of others, but survival is heavy on our minds. I think I’ve got it easier than some people in the world who are not used to change, but it’s not easy. When the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic began to sink in, I wept with my head in my hands.  Then I let the moment go and tried to go on with my life. Because of prior experiences, I know about survival, and I know that this time will pass and that while it is here, I can endure it. And one day COVID-19 will pass. I also trust God. Some things in life take us by surprise, but if one survives a life-changing event, one can be renewed by God and have faith restored. God may have even called us to a particular ministry because of our experiences. God brings each new day. Let us give thanks to God and then ask, "What will I do with it?"

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for another day. I humbly ask to guide, lead and direct me in it.  Amen.
