My grandson Samuel is four years old now and just graduated preschool. Even though we moved 1100 miles away to our new home in Florida, my husband, Earl, and I can maintain a close connection with Samuel and his younger sister, Abigail, through regular visits and the modern marvel of video calling. Through the video-chat portal we can read stories, play games, and simply talk about our day with our grandchildren. Earl and I were even able to “attend” Samuel’s recent graduation ceremony virtually through our computer. Amazing!
My pleasure in my virtual visits with Samuel and Abigail reminds me of the importance of my “visits” with the Lord each morning. When I meet with the Lord for prayer and devotions I am strengthened in my relationship with God while receiving wisdom, help, comfort, and direction for my daily life.
Just as the video-chat portal is a valuable tool toward maintaining my relationship with my precious grandchildren, my devotional time is a means for relationship-building and connection with my God.
