Over the years, when I have struggled to change my thought patterns and have turned to God for help, God has shown me the blessings of thanking, trusting, and praising God.
As I mentioned in my devotional, when I agonized over words I had spoken, God lead me to worship instead. I praised God as my Creator, my Savior, and my Sustainer. And I have continued to praise God, almost always beginning with the same three praises. Often, I will continue on and praise God as my Rock, my Redeemer, my Deliverer, my Healer, my Provider, the source of my hope, and the source of my strength.
When I praise God nowadays, I find it meaningful to repeat the entire phrase. I will pray, “Praise you, God, for you are my Creator. Praise you, God, for you are my Savior. Praise you, God, for you are my Sustainer. Praise you, God, for you are my Rock,” and so on, throughout my prayer.
I find that as I praise God this way, the process puts me into right relationship with God. It’s as though each praise not only blesses God, but also touches a different aspect of my heart, mind, soul, and body as I relax and put my full trust in God’s care.
