Recently we woke to tiles buckling in our floor. Living in Florida, my first thought was, Could a sink hole be forming? By the time we had to leave for work, I was reassuring my husband, “I don’t know what this is. I know I can’t handle this, but God can. Everything will be okay. God’s got this!” I left with a sense of peace.
That peace comes from years of physically putting things in the box I wrote about in today’s devotion. My relationship with God has grown to the point where now I can pray and trust. I no longer need the box that once helped me to learn to trust in God’s promises. The picture I share is of an empty box that sits on my desk. It’s a pretty reminder of the old box I used to use and of trust, grace, peace, and above all, the love of God, my Father.
I join many of those who will pray for you as you seek to discern what you are called to be at this moment. May God grant you the courage to fulfill that calling. May we all open our eyes and see the misery, open our ears and hear the cries of God’s people, and, like God through the Lord Jesus Christ, be incarnate amongst them.”
