After submitting my latest devotional to The Upper Room in September 2020 (“Another Try,” which is being published in November 2022), my spiritual life and writing about it have been catapulted to a new level that I never dreamed possible. I never thought of myself ever being a writer, much less a published author. But the Holy Spirit was incessant in pushing me into a new role for my Christian beliefs by encouraging me to become a freelance Christian writer.
I’m sure it was my daily Bible and devotional reading over the past several years that became the catalyst for changing the ways I perceived and interacted with God. My thoughts became more insightful regarding how God’s words pertained to my daily life. It wasn’t long before I felt the urge to share my thoughts about these insights with other people. That prompting led to creating my blog, “Prayer Box Inspirations.” It has been a bit uncanny how the Holy Spirit’s inspirations come to mind either after a devotional reading or just out of the blue during the day. Paramount to my spiritual journey is how these inspirations remain the driving force for my writing about specific topics for Christian audiences across the internet to this day.
It was no coincidence that many of my blog topics were in response to the events happening in America and the world in 2020 and 2021 during the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic period. Writing blog posts about faith, family, trust, love, and hope during that period were focused on encouraging readers to stay strong in the face of so much turbulence in our lives at that time. Near the end of 2020, I decided to compile many of these blog topics into a book about what we were all enduring and the many detrimental impacts on American society. After several months of work and finding the right publisher, I wrote a book about the current state of America’s moral foundation that was published in April 2021.
Becoming a Christian author has profoundly changed the trajectory of my life and revealed a new purpose in serving the Lord. Writing my first Christian book has opened new doors into exploring my faith and relationship with God that I never knew existed. Moreover, my daily Bible and devotional readings are producing a more in-depth perspective into what I believe God wants me to understand and write about in my blog posts and future books to be a positive influence on other people’s lives, as well as mine.
