More From Sam Siligato

March 11, 2023 by Sam Siligato (New Jersey, USA)

This devotion is very dear to my heart.  My original title was “I believe I saw an angel.”  We were remembering the heartache while witnessing my sister Karen and her family deal with her health.  As my wife, Sherry, and I arrived at the bench on the boardwalk, the Lord took out a paintbrush and created a spectacular sunset!  Colors seemed to keep changing as the sun traveled across the sky.  It gave us peace and a sense that all would be okay.   The date was September 8, 2001, and no one could know that in a few days our nation would be in such distress as a result of the attacks on September 11th.  It would be such a difficult period for so many.  The surreal feeling I had seeing the man with bagpipes on the jetty playing “Amazing Grace” will be with me for the rest of my life.

The rest of my life?  My wife passed away unexpectedly on November 7, 2022.  I am seeking direction in this uncertain time.  My newly published book, a collection of personal short stories of faith, is one my wife and I prayed for as I sought the words to minister to others and possibly be an inspiration to cause people to seek out God’s gift of eternal life.

If that goal is accomplished, Sherry’s legacy will grow in another way because of her part in it, and she will no doubt be rejoicing along with the other angels in heaven.  As for myself, I have to trust the Lord for healing and revelation of my path forward.
