More From Cathy Fooshee

This Lent, I decided to take on the discipline of being grateful. Three times a day I would take 10 minutes to journal things for which I was thankful. Through this discipline God has blessed me with some “aha moments” that I would like to share. Though it may be the same story God has always held for me, this Lent it has leapt out of the pages of my Bible at me as if it were brand new. God has relentlessly pursued you and me, not only to give us eternal life (yes, this is pivotal) but also to give us abundant life in the here and now. John 10:10 says it plainly: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (NIV).

Since I wrote my devotion entitled “Safe Place,” our family lost one of my brothers unexpectedly. I have repeatedly sought refuge in my “safe place” provided by God while dealing with his death. Psalm 36:7-9 talks about taking refuge in the shadow of God’s wings, where we may feast upon the abundance of God’s table. Psalm 16:11 tells us that we can find fullness of joy in God’s presence. In the beginning of creation, it was God’s intention for us to be in a constant relationship with God. In this way, we have a constant IV connection to the spiritual food that sets us free and gives us the eternally abundant life God intended us to have. Each morning I lift my palms to the Lord, asking, “Give us this day our daily bread,” as Jesus instructed us in scripture. The Lord knows exactly what we need each day to make us whole. The Lord is faithful to every promise. Thank you, God!

Accompanying this blog is a picture of my daughter and myself. She ran a 1/2 marathon after this pic was taken, and I chased her around taking pictures.
