Mustard Seed

June 9, 2023 by Edward Handley (Ohio, USA)

Recently, after reading Matthew 17:20, I discovered that there’s been a mustard seed—the tiniest of all seeds—planted within my heart. After losing my wife suddenly, losing my leg, and losing my home of many years, I was not in a place of worshipfulness. But a few people from a local church visited me, and I began attending that church regularly. That was when I realized how much I needed God. Following several surgeries and a difficult healing process after the amputation of my leg, it finally began to heal, and my heart healed with the love of God as the mustard seed that was in it started to bloom.

I began praying every morning to God, reading the devotionals in The Upper Room, and doing my Bible correspondence lesson. I gave my burdens to God. Thanks to that small mustard seed that bloomed in my heart, my faith continues to grow. God has fulfilled every promise to me by blessing me with the things that I need. I know that God has something for me to do. Sharing my story with you is one of the first things God has asked me to do.

I hope that everyone who reads this will receive that mustard seed of faith and allow God to come into their life and help them carry their burdens.
