More From Kumalawaty Sundari

The view that inspired Kumalawaty Sundari's meditation for today

Relaxing on my balcony is a daily habit and a time for noticing God’s presence. Many people, including my family, consider it strange. They think I am just daydreaming or doing nothing. But when I spend time on my balcony, I do not feel empty at all. It’s there that I get to enjoy God’s creation: clouds, trees, birdsong, sounds of rain, and the stars and the moon. God’s creation makes me realize that I am never alone, even when it feels like people are uncaring or closed off.

Today’s meditation was inspired by an early-morning view from my balcony. Heaps of black clouds slowly turned red as the sun rose. Then the whole day was sunny.

There are many ways we can feel God’s presence. Things that inspire a sense of wonder make me feel that God cares about me. I often walk at the park or the beach and enjoy God’s peace there. I feel close to the Lord when I am amazed by God’s creation.

Whenever I feel down, I can find strength and comfort by admiring God’s creation. I love nature so much, and it helps me to notice God in every activity that I do. We all have our daily routines, but spending a little time listening to God’s voice through the wonder of creation surely brightens our day. It reminds us that God, who holds the universe and all inside of it, cares for us.

There are times when we feel that our burdens are too tough, that we are unsupported and without help. Then our days become gloomy. But we do not have to go far to find God. When we calm our hearts, we can see God’s greatness through all that God has made and accept God’s love for us. We are precious in God’s eyes because we are God’s creation.

There are lots of opportunities to enjoy God’s creation, and I am glad to share this one with you. May the beauty of creation inspire and uplift you!
