When Jesus Moves In: An Advent Reflection
The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. —John 1:14, The Message When Read More
When I submitted my devotional entitled “Jumping the Hurdles,” I was at the point of completing my first devotional book, a Christmas devotional book (pictured here). The book guides you through the original Christmas story in 25 days. Each day begins with a scripture reading, shows an early hymn that highlights the scripture, adds notes on the reading, discussion questions to ponder, and provides links to historical details for further study.
In deciding on what image to use for a cover photo on the book, my local church gave me that inspiration. The lovely stained glass nativity scene image is an actual window at my local church.
What gave me the final push to get this book out was going to a fundraiser for a national prison ministry. The ministry, Evangelism Explosion International Prison Ministry, brings the Bible to those who are incarcerated, changing their hearts and minds so that when they are released they won’t fall back into old habits and return to prison. I was so impressed by their ministry that I immediately decided to devote all sale proceeds from that book to them.
Since that book, I’ve published two Bible-based picture books for children, an activity and devotional guide for middle schoolers, two inspirational romance novels, and I’m in the pre-sale stage for an inspirational Christmas romance that’s part of a 12-book box set with other authors.
Each week I do interviews with authors who write clean fiction for adults and children. There’s usually an eBook giveaway added at the end. You can find them at my blog: https://thewritechris.blogspot.com/.
It’s a joy to write books for children that share God’s love with them. My novels for adults show Christian faith in action. I’ve often shared individual devotionals with friends and family who are dealing with medical crises. I’ve been compiling those devotionals and hope to get them out in book form by the beginning of next year.
