Forging God’s Family

March 13, 2025 by Enrico Esguerra (Illinois, USA)

October 2024 marks eight years of my journey in writing personal devotions, inspired by the 2016 Asia Walk to Emmaus, Chrysalis Leadership Development, and The Upper Room Daily Devotional writing workshop I attended in Seoul, South Korea. This gathering united delegates from the United States, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Russia, and South Korea, with Bishop Hee-Soo Jung and Reverend Im-Hyon Jung as our spiritual parents. Each participant became a beloved sibling in Christ, forging connections that transcended borders and deepened our shared faith.

In the closing message, I shared a pivotal moment in my life — my miraculous salvation through a car accident, which transformed me from a manager at McDonald’s to a messenger for God’s children. This underscores the importance of embracing everyone as part of God’s family. Forging God’s family involves fostering relationships and understanding among people worldwide, emphasizing connections across cultures and shared values like compassion and justice. By celebrating diversity and encouraging cooperation, we create a world where everyone feels valued. As 1 Thessalonians 5:11 reminds us, “Encourage one another and build each other up” (NIV). Let us actively support one another on our journeys and nurture the bonds that unite us as a global family.
