The Gifts of Contemplation and Courage
I love children’s picture books. They offer beautifully illustrated lessons for children and a picture window… Read More

My husband and I recently spent seventeen days exploring the island of Ireland with good friends. We were once again in awe of the “thunder of his power.” As we stood at the edge of a three-hundred-foot cliff atop Dún Aonghasa, a fort on the small island of Inis Mór, we marveled at what we were seeing. Where two edges of the cliff came together at right angles, there were flowers sprouting out of the rock! We thought, How does this happen, God? We marveled at the beauty of the pounding surf three hundred feet below, getting as close to the edge as we dared.

From that point, we took a thirty-minute hike across jagged, loose, and uneven limestone rocks where we saw another wonder, the Wormhole. The Wormhole is a naturally-formed rectangular tidal pool carved into the limestone cliffs. We watched as the surf pounded up over rocks and across the Wormhole, leaving beautiful emerald green and blue water in its wake. Once again, we thought, How does this happen?
I’m sure that someone could tell me how all this beauty comes to be, but behind it I just see a smiling God who is saying, “It’s all for mankind, and there is more where that came from!” The Bible says we just see and hear a small whisper of God’s power. I just can’t fathom what else God has in store for us. Yay, God!
