God Is Here

It is a joy for me to share that I am no longer waiting in the dark for the “curtain” to rise. The troubling situation I described in my devotional “Behind the Curtain” lasted into a third year before it was resolved. Every day during that time, I fought an inward battle of faith versus fear. A person I trusted threatened my financial safety and my future well-being, and I risked all I had to keep their plans from becoming a reality. There were days when I felt as though I stood on a ledge that could give way any minute, and panic would begin to grip my heart. At those times, one of three things would keep me from giving up: looking back at miracles God had done in my life, reading God’s word for insights regarding struggle, and sensing the comfort of the Holy Spirit that Jesus promised.
When the battle was finally won and the threat had been neutralized, I was thankful I had not given in to fear. If you are in a struggle now, you understand. It is hard to wait in the dark before the curtain rises, especially if the wait goes on and on and you see no movement backstage. But God was working as I waited, and being patient kept me from making mistakes. God is good, and God will always take care of his own.
One great blessing was that God provided more than I needed. I have been able to help my church and more people than I would have ever imagined. If we can wait on God, God will always work for our good. If you are in a dark place, don’t give in to fear or despair; keep praying honest prayers. The curtain will rise.
