One of my friends in high school suffered from depression and suicidal thoughts. I tried to reassure my friend that I would always be there for support and encouragement, which my friend appreciated. But despite all the actions that I — and others — took, my friend died by suicide....

Dear God, thank you for the everlasting love and mercy you show us. Give us the strength to love ourselves and others like you love us. Amen.
