The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.” - 1 Samuel 3:10-11 (NIV)
Traveling through a thick fog, I was listening to a devotional program based on the calling of Samuel. The speaker gave an invitation simply to pray Samuel’s prayer, “Speak [Lord], for your servant is listening.” Then we were to be silent and listen.

I join many of those who will pray for you as you seek to discern what you are called to be at this moment. May God grant you the courage to fulfill that calling. May we all open our eyes and see the misery, open our ears and hear the cries of God’s people, and, like God through the Lord Jesus Christ, be incarnate amongst them.”
