Help Us Expand the Reach of The Upper Room

March 11, 2025 by Nicole Curtis

This time each year, I have the privilege of sharing how your generosity impacts our international ministry through the 33 language editions of The Upper Room. This year, I’m thrilled to bring you news about our work in Africa.

For decades, we’ve partnered with Africa Upper Room Ministries (AURM) in South Africa to publish an English edition of The Upper Room. Currently, AURM prints 28,260 copies each year, with an additional 120 people receiving it digitally.

Under the leadership of Makgoshi Sindane, AURM’s General Manager, and AURM’s dedicated multi-country governing board, we’re expanding to meet the growing demand across Africa. Exciting developments include wider distribution of the English edition with local printing in Zimbabwe and Kenya. (Work on the first English issue in Zimbabwe is currently underway!) Additionally, AURM is collaborating with local partners to revive the Portuguese edition in Angola and to extend its reach to Mozambique.

These new editions reflect our commitment to being a truly global ministry—meeting the spiritual needs of Christians worldwide while learning from the wisdom of believers across the globe. By tailoring each edition to the language and culture of its audience, we strive to make The Upper Room more accessible and meaningful for all.

But we can’t do this without you.

Last year, thanks to your incredible generosity, we were able to provide essential funding to our international publishing partners who depend on our monetary support to translate, edit, print, and distribute their language editions. As we take on the challenge of launching four new editions in Africa, along with addressing growing needs in other regions, your support is more crucial than ever.

Will you help us make these new editions of The Upper Room a reality?

Your gift will empower our publishing partners in Africa and beyond, ensuring The Upper Room reaches more people in their heart language and cultural context. Together, we can bring the love and hope of Jesus Christ to a world in need.

Thank you for being part of this vital mission.

“The Zimbabwe–English edition will bridge language barriers and resonate with our readers’ cultural and spiritual context. It fills me with joy to imagine individuals and families finding solace, inspiration, and strength in their daily walk with God.”
—Rev. Dr. Mazvita Machinga, lead of the Zimbabwe-English edition
