Help Us Raise $115,000 by July 31st

July 1, 2026 by Nicole Curtis

Because of generous donors like you, The Upper Room Chaplains’ Ministry continues to shape hearts and lives. This year, from Memorial Day through July 31, we are seeking to raise $115,000 for this invaluable ministry that supplies copies of The Upper Room, free of charge, to military, VA, and prison chaplains.

Navy chaplain CDR Walter (Sonny) Dinkins USN (Ret.) shares:

“Troops enjoy reading these scriptures and related short stories. One can find comfort in such positive uplifting reflections. You don’t know if you will live or die, get zapped, or have an accident, but all copies I get are taken and read by troops. I’d put them on helo flights or Motor movements in the dashboard or with mail drops to Forward bases . . . or even get them parachuted in airmail drops.”

At times, Chaplains’ Ministry support extends beyond devotional copies to provide Upper Room resources for special ministry settings. Last December, Rev. Sharon Seyfarth Garner—minister and Upper Room Books author— received copies of Mandalas, Candles, and Prayer: A Simply Centered Advent for an Advent retreat with women incarcerated in Cleveland.

Mandalas from Rev. Seyfarth Garner's Advent Retreat

“With a catch in her throat, one participant, Linda, reflected: ‘This is the first time since I got here that I actually forgot where I was.’ As she quietly colored the mandalas, lit the Advent candles, and listened to soft Christmas music, Linda found a moment of peace while facing her first Christmas in prison.”

Rev. Seyfarth Garner continues,

“I am deeply grateful to Upper Room donors for providing copies of this book for the women last December. Having a book of their own to pray with, color, and keep is such a powerful gift! Your generosity makes it possible for prison ministries to continue offering moments of beauty, stillness, and spiritual nourishment. Thank you for helping ensure that these women are seen, valued, and not forgotten.”

With your gift today, those being served through The Upper Room Chaplains’ Ministry will continue to be “seen, valued, and not forgotten.” Thank you for your generosity.
