More From Jim Good

March 21, 2022 by Jim Good (Ohio, USA)

I wrote this devotional to encourage those who feel inadequate, worthless, or insignificant. I also wrote it for that forgotten segment of the population I hold very close to my heart—orphans. My father died of a brain tumor when I was in the sixth grade. I watched my healthy, strong father wither to emaciated proportions and eventually die. When I was in the eighth grade, my mother remarried. A few months into the marriage, my stepfather murdered her. Without warning or time to prepare, I became an orphan. I lost what seemed like everything. My father. My mother. My home. My youth. My earthly inheritance. My sense of security and hope. Decades of lack, need, and want ensued.

Today, I am the author of a Christian book that deals with things we all suffer in life, such as loneliness, stress, fear, loss, etc. I first give a personal example, and then a biblical example that demonstrates how to overcome, or at least cope and endure, through Christ. I also wrote this devotional to encourage people to see themselves as God sees them—as mighty men and women of fearless courage, vast potential, and spines of unbending steel. Never get discouraged; you are able, and you have what it takes. The Lord calls ordinary people to do extraordinary things. God doesn’t look for perfect people to do the work. It would be impossible to find even one. Thus, I encourage you to hope, dream, and believe. Hope for a life of deep purpose and bountiful blessings; dream the impossible; believe that what may seem impossible is actually quite possible with God. With God, nothing is impossible. Absolutely nothing.
