November 2: Never Too Old

1. When you observe a need in your community, do you take action, or do you wait for someone else to?  Why?
2. Have you ever felt that you were the wrong age or in the wrong season of life to answer a call from God?  How can you combat those feelings?  How are you encouraged by Abraham’s example of serving God regardless of his age?
3. When you doubt that you will be able to bless others, what scripture passages remind you that God can use anyone at any time?
4. When you feel a call from God to serve, what is your first response?  Where do you find the strength to answer the call?  What happens when you do?
5. Who in your community has blessed you with their service?  How will you let them know you appreciate their actions?

November 9: God’s Word in Our Hearts

1. Have you ever used a specific method for memorizing scripture?  If so, what was the experience like?  If not, how do you choose which Bible verses you will memorize?
2. When do you most clearly experience the power of God’s word?  In what ways does scripture bring you peace and encourage you to worship?
3. Describe a time when scripture has offered you comfort or a sense of healing.  Why was God’s word so beneficial for you in that time?  What else brought you healing?
4. What spiritual disciplines have most enriched your faith?  How have they enriched your faith?  What other spiritual disciplines would you like to try?  
5. Can worship and worry inhabit you at the same time? Explain. When you are filled with worry, what forms of worship help to shift your focus?

November 16: Necessary Gifts

1. When it is time to prepare for the holidays, what is your job?  How did you end up with this role?  Describe a time when you saw your contribution bring joy to someone else.
2. Name three ways that the gifts of people in your church enrich your life.  How do you embrace your own gifts and share them with others in your community?
3. When you believe that your gifts are inadequate, what prayers and forms of worship help you to see their value?
4. Do you find joy in sharing your gifts with those around you?  If so, where does that joy come from?  
5. Do you possess a gift that you are hesitant to share?  Why are you hesitant?  How does scripture encourage you to share your gift with confidence?

November 23: The Forgotten Bike

1. Describe something that you have seen recently that seems to have been forgotten.  What did you think when you saw it?  Where were you at the time? What about it indicated that it had been forgotten?
2. Why do you think it is so easy for the world to forget people?  In what ways do you try to avoid forgetting someone?  How do you help those whom others seem to have forgotten?
3. When has someone’s actions shown you that you are not forgotten?  How did those actions affect you?  How does this experience inspire you to show others that they are not forgotten?
4. What can you learn from Jesus’ example of noticing those whom society had dismissed?  How can Christians better live like Jesus did when it comes to people who have been neglected by the world?
5. When have you witnessed small actions make a big difference for an individual or for a group of people?  What did that situation teach you about your role in helping others and the difference that you can make?

November 30: Reason to Celebrate

1. Have you always celebrated Christmas?  Why or why not?  How has the way you observe Christmas changed throughout your life?
2. How has the meaning of Christmas changed for you throughout the years?
3. What does the celebration of Christmas mean to you?  What feelings toward God and others does the Christmas season bring out most strongly for you?
4. How do you share the good news of Christ’s birth with those around you at Christmastime?  
5. In what ways does your faith community encourage you to celebrate and give thanks in the Christmas season?  What gifts from God do you and your church most clearly focus on and celebrate?
