January 4: Setting the Tone

1. Recall a time when you were looking for meaning in life. Where did you find it? How did your relationship with Christ develop during that time?
2. In what ways did the early years of your Christian life set the tone for how you would live out your Christian faith? How has the way you live your faith changed over time?
3. Who taught you how to be a believer in Christ? How did they teach you? In what ways did they shape the faith you have today?
4. Do you find it easier to tell others about your faith or show it by the way you live your life? Why? What spiritual practices help you to share your faith in both words and actions?
5. Think of someone in your life with whom you can share your faith. How will you show that person what it means to be a Christian? How can you encourage them to live a life of faith?

January 11: Unexpected Ways

1. When have you felt lost and out of place? Who or what helped you overcome those feelings?
2. Has anyone ever told you that they’ve noticed your faith in Christ? If so, what did they notice? When have you noticed someone else’s faith? How did their faith strengthen yours?
3. When have you prayed for something and received a different answer than what you expected from God? Was the answer what you truly needed, or did it leave you feeling unsatisfied? How do you respond to unexpected answers to prayer?
4. Why do you think we tend to seek contentment in our surroundings? What prayers and scripture passages remind you of the joy that can only be found in Christ?
5. How are you encouraged by the idea that what you do in God’s name can bring God glory? What daily practices help you focus on God and glorify God through your actions?

January 18: A Special Place

1. Where do you feel closest to God and best able to clear your mind? Why do you think that location helps you connect with God? Describe how it feels to be in a sacred place.
2. Why do you think solitude can help people feel closer to God? Do you find it easier to connect with God when you’re alone or with others? Why?
3. Have you ever heard an audible voice from God? If so, describe the experience. If not, in what ways do you notice God communicating with you?
4. Describe a time when you realized that God was answering
your prayers but not in the way you were expecting. How did you respond?
5. How do you make time to talk with God and to listen for God’s answers? What helps you pause and remain quiet so that you can hear God’s response?

January 25: Connections

1. Why do you think communicating with someone virtually is so different from being with them in person? In what ways do you intentionally strengthen your connections with others, both in person and virtually?
2. What character traits do you think others see in you? What do you hope they can see in you? In what ways do you strive to represent Christ?
3. When have you felt God’s encouragement? How did you experience it? How does reading scripture and observing creation help you feel more connected to God when it seems like God is not responding to you?
4. How do you show those around you that you love them? When do you most clearly feel the love of those around you? When do you feel God’s love most strongly? How do you show your love for God?
5. Why do you think it brings God joy when we acknowledge God’s love for us? How does God’s love encourage you to deepen your relationship with God?
