I am always looking for new ways to pray so that my prayer life doesn’t become stale. One day while visiting my brother in Arizona, I searched online to find prayers, and I was surprised to see one of the results, “Times to pray in Mesa [Arizona] today” with five different times listed. As I looked more closely, I realized this was for those of the Muslim faith and thought what a great example it is to take the time to pray five times each day!
Since then, I’ve asked God to help me pray throughout the entire day, not just during my morning devotional time. Sometimes I struggle to pray or feel I don’t know what to say. This is one of the ways that The Upper Room has helped me, since a prayer and thought for the day are always included. Some of my friends don’t like prayers that are written down. They feel prayers should come spontaneously from the heart. But I’ve discovered that both are meaningful for me, and I appreciate the written prayers I find in The Upper Room and other places. Each day my prayer journey deepens.
