November 6: Tracks to Safety
1. Recall a time when you were unable to tell where you were going. How did you handle the situation? What happened?
2. Have you ever needed to follow the path in front of you without being able to see clearly? What did this experience teach you about trust?
3. Do you ever find it challenging to know which direction you should take? Why? How do you lean on scripture to find your way in these times?
4. When are you most aware of God’s word guiding you? How do you know when you are following God’s direction and when you are not?
5. What does it mean to you to be grounded in scripture? What helps you hear God speaking to you through scripture? How does clinging to God’s word help you through trials?
November 13: In All Circumstances
1. Have you or a loved one ever received a frightening diagnosis? How did you respond? What role did your faith play in your response?
2. Do you find it easy or difficult to trust God in all circumstances? Why? When have you tried to tell God how to fix a situation? What was the outcome?
3. Recall a time when you were able to hand over your situation to God and trust God fully. What happened? What helped you release your circumstances to God in this way?
4. When has God offered you peace in a stressful time? How did that peace help you endure? Why do you think God’s peace is so transformational?
5. How does trusting God change you? In what ways does trusting God strengthen your faith and alter the way you handle difficult experiences?
November 20: Staying Available
1. When you feel unable to do the work you are called to do, how do you respond? How do you refocus and find ways to serve God despite interruptions and obstacles?
2. Have you ever experienced an interruption that turned out to be an opportunity to serve God? What was the situation? How did that experience change the way you view interruptions?
3. What does Proverbs 16:9 mean to you? Do you find it encouraging or discouraging? How have you found this scripture to be true in your own life?
4. When has God called you to serve in an unpredictable way? How did you answer the call? What happened?
5. Do you tend to be open or closed off to the unexpected ways God wants you to minister? Why? What faith practices help you remain open and willing to serve however God calls you?
November 27: Loving Guidance
1. Have you ever been in a situation where you were in danger and could not help yourself? What happened? Who helped you get to safety?
2. In what ways have others supported you and helped you through scary situations? How is the outcome different when you have the support of others versus when you don’t? Why do you think the support of others is so important?
3. Who in scripture provides the best example of the value of support? Why do you think this is such a good example? What can we learn from this example?
4. When has Jesus found you and offered you supportive guidance? In what ways does Jesus’ support differ from the support of other people?
5. In times when you feel isolated, how do you reach out to Jesus and to others? What happens when you reach out? How do you support others who may be feeling isolated?
