When I wrote my original meditation, my daughter still used her feeding tube for supplemental hydration. In October 2025, we were finally able to remove the tube for good. The stoma where the tube used to be closed up in a matter of hours, and we haven’t looked back. My daughter will always have a little scar where the stoma used to be. As I told her, it will be good for science class when they learn about the stomach. She’ll always have an “x marks the spot” to show exactly where her stomach is located!
A few weeks ago we celebrated our sixth “Happy Brain Day,” which is the anniversary of when God worked miracles and allowed the doctors to repair my daughter’s brain. The day holds only joy for us. All the trauma that was there on the original day has been swept away by gratitude and love.
Life doesn’t always flow the way we want it to, but no matter what happens, God does work everything for our good according to God’s will. We don’t ever need to be afraid.
