When I visit urban areas near my home, I am alarmed at the large number of men, women, and sometimes even children sleeping on sidewalks and in other open areas. Then I remember that in Jesus’ parable of the good Samaritan, the true neighbor attends to the needs of others....

Today's Prayer
Dear Father, help us always remember your command to love our neighbors as ourselves. Continue to fill us with compassion for the least among us. As Jesus taught us, we pray, “Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation (Luke 11:2-4, niv). Amen.
