THE ACADEMY FOR SPIRITUAL FORMATION POSTPONES BILINGUAL TWO-YEAR ACADEMY #42 DUE TO COVID-19
Nashville, TN— The Academy for Spiritual Formation announces it will postpone Bilingual (Spanish + English) Two-Year Academy #42 due to COVID-19 and its implications for in-person gatherings and travel. Academy #42 will now begin August 9, 2021 at Oblate Renewal Center in San Antonio, TX. Find a full list of the new dates for Academy #42 here.
“While we fully believe there will be an end to this pandemic, we do not think it will end soon enough for us to recruit a full class or for us to travel safely and responsibly in August 2020,” said Academy Director, Johnny Sears.
“We look forward to a time when we are free to gather in safety and with peace of mind, body, and spirit. Until then, we hold our Academy, Upper Room, and global community in our prayers.”
Two-Year Bilingual (Spanish + English) Academy #42 will be the first Bilingual Academy since 2011 and is part of The Academy’s vision to form ecumenical Christian communities that embrace the multicultural, multiethnic, interfaith landscape of the 21st century. Previous Two-Year participants describe The Academy as life-changing, restorative, and spiritually grounding, a necessary offering in an age of deep division and political posturing.
The application process for Academy #42 will remain open and can be found here. Bilingual language skills are not a requirement to apply. Additional resources to remain grounded in God and connected to prayerful community in this time of global pandemic can be found here.

I join many of those who will pray for you as you seek to discern what you are called to be at this moment. May God grant you the courage to fulfill that calling. May we all open our eyes and see the misery, open our ears and hear the cries of God’s people, and, like God through the Lord Jesus Christ, be incarnate amongst them.”
