As we prepare to celebrate Memorial Day in the United States, may we take time to pause and pray, reflecting on the true meaning of the holiday by giving thanks for the men and women who paid the ultimate price, giving their lives for our country. We live free because of their sacrifice.
At The Upper Room, Memorial Day marks the beginning of our Chaplains’ Ministry campaign. The Chaplains’ Ministry supports military, VA hospital, and prison chaplains by providing copies of The Upper Room daily devotional for their ministries. Chaplains often tell us that The Upper Room is the most widely requested devotional material. Chaplain Peters, who was recently added to our distribution list, had to immediately increase her number of copies, saying “I didn’t realize the copies would be gone so quick.” Chaplain Andrews, who serves on an aircraft carrier, was excited to learn about the Chaplains’ Ministry and requested several hundred copies for his 3000–5000 member crew.*
When you give to The Upper Room Chaplains’ Ministry, you support Chaplains Peters and Andrews and their counterparts in the military, at VA hospitals, and at correctional facilities. For $42, you can provide 10 copies per issue of The Upper Room to one chaplain for a year. Let us serve those who have dedicated their lives to one of service.
P.S. If you know a chaplain who would appreciate receiving copies of The Upper Room for his or her ministry, please contact us at [email protected] or have the chaplain complete this request form.
*For privacy, real names of chaplains were not given.
The RESILIENCE conference in 2021 was so uplifting and nourishing. It was wonderful to be with other Christians around the world at this retreat, who truly care about responding to trauma in a compassionate way by teaching spiritual practices to help with grounding and healing.”
Join us for the next RESILIENCE conference on September 29-30, 2023. Learn more at UpperRoom.org/resilience.
