Train children in the way they should go; when they grow old, they won’t depart from it. — Proverbs 22:6 (CEB)

How parents guide their children often affects the children’s faith in adulthood. Parenting is one of God’s most important callings; it is a privilege and responsibility. My parents followed the advice given in Proverbs 22:6 while we were growing up. We would go to church, pray, and sing together at home. Now, my children do this with their families. I praise God for them, and I take them to God’s throne of grace continually. There are many undesirable influences that threaten family life, so we must ask God to provide the grace, patience, and wisdom to take care of our children.

When our Sunday-school children participated in morning worship service, it was a memorable and joyous occasion! The older children led the service, and the younger children sang and recited Bible verses. Parents, teachers, and the whole church are sensitive to the spiritual needs of our children.

On November 27, 2022, despite it being rainy and cloudy outside, faithful believers gathered in the church to celebrate the first Sunday in Advent. During Advent, every Sunday worship service began with the lighting of candles until December 24th. Candles symbolize hope, joy, love, and peace. And the season reminds us of the earthly arrival of our Savior into the world and the anticipation of his second coming.

We had the joy of having our friends as well as our pastors and their families for a get-together. We sang carols, prayed for our families, and listened to the Word of God. It was a time of beautiful fellowship and renewing our faith and commitment to love and follow Christ. One of our church members baked a delicious cake for the occasion, and friends gave me the honor of cutting the cake. We also had good food.

On December 31, 2022, we participated in the covenant service. We once again had an opportunity to surrender ourselves to God and God’s leading. And on January 1st, we were ushered into a new year—a new beginning! We do not know what is in store for us, but we know who holds our future. May we humbly submit ourselves to Christ for a new life in him. Blessings for a new year filled with good health and happiness.

God’s grace and peace.
